Not only Disney, not only Svankmajer

A great article about our Animation Sunday project (in Polish)

Honest and sometimes harsh, a long article including some theories and secrets behind the Sunday Animation in Krakow, aka KAN (Klub Animowanej Niedzieli)
It is quite rare to find such a deep article about the situation of the art of animation(from festivals to cheap virals), so everyone who is researching such things, and speaks Polish :) should read it.

Elle Decoration

I almost missed the winter edition of Elle Decoration (actually “Elle Dekor” –  the Hungarian version),  just grabbed one on the way to Poland, a little article by Kamilla Mihaly, and photo by Katarzyna Zolich. Interestingly it is also the first time someone wrote about Epidermis, one of the work it was never really introduced officially :)

Ufałam Ridgeowi – I trusted Ridge (sketch)

It is something we wanted to try out for a very long time with Kasia, and finally we have found a couple of hours to make it.

Big thanks to Bartek and Przemek for the projector :)

Animation Sans Frontieres

A quite eclectic talk/presentation targeted to young naive animators like me about some of my work, working processes and utopistic ideas concerning the future of animation industry, tomorrow @MOME (B108) on the last day of the Animation Sans Frontieres workshop. I think anyone else is welcome as well, so come by.

have you noticed

have you noticed I didn t really post any sketches for a long time? I kind of made most of my sketches top-secret, I grow my ideas in a hidden garden, experimenting with them in design/animation laboratory which is not even visible for satelites. Like this I can always sell them or use them as fresh, new stuff. (Also I had a couple of bad experience posting something and then seeing used by other people)

sneak peak from a Kazed Üto project

Anyway, I wanted to point out, I am so excited: there are a number of very interesting personal and collaboration work, and I really hope I will be able to share them soon here. The ones I posted earlier are still waiting for funding (help?), but there are a number of other things got really in an advanced state, but I cannnot show them this year. So please be patient :)

Etiuda & Anima 2011 (new poster)

Yesterday at the end of the festival they announced the next edition, which I was asked to design the poster a while ago, but now it is public, so enjoy. Next year of course :)

In the background it is Wawel, the castle in Krakow, how stylish…

UPDATE: I found a screenshot from the presentation, on my right there is the rest of the jury, with Emily Hubley, Stanislav Ulver and Paul Bush at the other end

Silent Touch in Krakow

Tomorrow (Wednesday 24.11) 20h Muzeum Narodowe Sala U Samurajow

(busy) November news

Dear Diary

November is full of amazing things. I am getting a closer realationship with Krakow. First, my ex-tutor Wladislaw Pluta invited me to give a master class at the Fine Art Academy (ASP) about my work, especially about visual and design development. This was my first ever presentation in Polish! Poster here

Then I will take part at the annual Etiuda & Anima festival, this time in the jury with my other ex-tutor, Paul Bush. Also I did some other work for them, but I will reveal it later. (Lot of Hungarians announced to attend the festival as well, watch out Krakow!) Silent Touch will be screened as well,  which will be a kind of official premier in Krakow for my English graduation film.

There are some nice festivals, where my work will be in competition this month, especially important for me Holland Animation Festival, and Bradford Animation Festival. Yay!

PS with Kasia Zolich (the two of us together more known as Kazed Üto) we are approaching the 10th Animation Sunday screening, be prepared for some champaign!!!

close to the Black sea

I ve been recently visiting Anim est, a young animation festival in Romania, where there were 3 of my films presented, 2 of them in competition. One nice touch was a night screening of music videos in an underground bar, reminding me the events we do in Krakow. There is few screening coming up in November, I will try to keep update this blog and to refresh the site as well. In the meantime you can see me as the sad keanu
